Established in 2011, Cheer Pack is a leading manufacturer of pouch packaging with over 4 billion pouches being produced in its North America facilities. The company is also an integrated manufacturer of injection molded parts, flexible pouches and pouch filling equipment.
Cheer Pack needed a solution that would generate an optimized production plan carried out by autonomous vehicles on the shop floor. They were experiencing labor shortages and wanted to maximize staff’s skills.
After being impressed by IFS Labs, Cheer Pack chose IFS Applications as their solution for this goal and Baker Tilly as their implementation partner. Baker Tilly implemented a fleet of autonomous vehicles that could navigate the factory using sensors like scanners and 3D cameras to move materials throughout the production process. Subsequently, IFS generates an optimized shop order production plan and it automatically sends a mission to the robot fleet software when a machine reaches for punishing point, which effectively orchestrates material movement.
As a result, the company anticipates $1.5 million savings per year and the staff can now focus more on advanced projects, reducing labor shortage for higher-skilled positions.
