Garth gives a legislative insider scoop on hot topics including various affordable housing bills and their chances of passing in Congress, the Biden administration priorities and the availability of tax-exempt bonds and potential dialogue for any reform within the CRA spectrum. Additionally, Garth dives into the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act and its objective to help increase the supply of affordable housing for sale.

Garth Rieman is the director of housing advocacy and strategic initiatives for the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), where he has worked since February of 1993. He manages the development and execution of NCSHA’s legislative and regulatory agenda on a variety of affordable housing issues, including Housing Credits, Mortgage Revenue Bonds, Section 8, HOME, FHA, appropriations, the GSEs, and rural housing. From 1989 to 1993, Garth served as a professional staff member and the Republican staff director for the United States Senate Housing Subcommittee. He also worked at HUD, the National Association of Realtors, and the U.S. Office of Management and Budget. Garth graduated from Pomona College and received a Masters Degree in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
