DENVER (October 30, 2018) – Baker Tilly Capital, LLC, a boutique investment bank for middle-market businesses, is pleased to announce the successful acquisition of its client, Systems Management Group, LLC (SMG), by The Hiller Companies, Inc. (Hiller), a subsidiary of Pon North America, Inc., headquartered in Mobile, Alabama.
SMG, a market leader serving the Colorado and Arizona markets, specializes in consulting, designing, installing, servicing and integrating low voltage systems for multifamily apartment buildings, including fire alarms, intrusion alarms, access control, camera systems, audio and video systems, BDA systems, area of refuge systems, telecommunications, data systems and more.
Baker Tilly Capital served as the exclusive advisor to SMG in connection with this transaction, developing and implementing the transaction process to market the company to a large group of strategic and financial buyers, which resulted in the successful sale to Hiller.
“The acquisition by Hiller gives our existing customers and potential new customers the best of both worlds,” Terrence Kane, founder and general manager of SMG, said. “We are able to provide them with the attention and support of a local company that’s also backed by the strength and resources of a strong U.S. brand.”
“We were pleased to offer our services to SMG as its financial advisor during the transaction process,” Kevin Rudd, executive managing director with Baker Tilly Capital, said. “In Hiller, SMG found a strategic partner whose vision for the future perfectly aligns with its own.”
