TYSONS, Va. (March 8, 2018) – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) Partner Monica Modi Dalwadi, CPA, CIA, CFE, MBA, recently was a guest lecturer at Howard University. She addressed Ph.D. students enrolled in the College and University Presidency course housed in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. This semester, the course is taught by President Wayne A. I. Frederick, M.D., MBA and the students enrolled in the course represent the Ph.D. program’s inaugural cohort.
Dalwadi’s lecture highlighted issues where university presidents need to hold team members accountable and how accountability is placed on colleges by external forces.
“Future university presidents will find themselves, and their institutions, held accountable in ways they’ve never encountered before,” Dalwadi said. “To succeed, they need to understand the internal and external stakeholders’ expectations. They are the face of the organization.”
Dalwadi added, “I’ve been involved with Howard University as a member of the internal audit service team for the past five years, and it was very rewarding to support the university in this capacity.”
“Monica gives back in so many ways,” Todd Stokes, Baker Tilly’s Managing Partner – D.C. Metro Area, said. “She sits on the board of the National Kidney Foundation, and she’s integral to several committees and initiatives within Baker Tilly that boost diversity, inclusion and retaining top talent. She’s touched many lives and we’re proud to see her recognized for her commitment to education.”
Dalwadi is a partner in the risk, internal audit and cybersecurity practice with more than 15 years of experience. She was recognized as a 2016 Minority Business Leader by the Washington Business Journal and received a 2015 Brava! Award from SmartCEO magazine, which recognizes female business leaders for their motivation, success and contributions to the community.
