MADISON, Wis. (October 24, 2018) – Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP (Baker Tilly) Partner and Public Sector Professional Practice Leader Heather Acker has been appointed to the Governmental Accounting Standards Board’s (GASB) newly created Tribal Government Accounting Working Group (TGAWG).
The GASB identified the need for the working group to address the ever-changing regulatory environment and explore technical solutions to tribal financial accounting and reporting issues.
Appointed by the GASB chairman, the working group is comprised of stakeholders offering unique perspectives and expertise.
“It is truly an honor to be a member and be one of two CPA firm representatives in the working group,” Acker said. “The TGAWG has the opportunity to positively influence tribal accounting and financial reporting changes and I look forward to being a part of it.”
Acker is responsible for the quality oversight of the public sector assurance practice of Baker Tilly. She specializes in serving the needs of state and local government clients and has experience with numerous types of financial and compliance audits. Acker currently chairs the AICPA’s State and Local Government Expert Panel.
The TGAWG will hold their first meeting on October 29.
