Our world, and the work from home environment, has been turned upside down during this pandemic. Remote work has become the prominent way of doing business for the vast majority of today’s organizations. Fortunately, technology has allowed many of our work responsibilities to continue in a remote setting, but many organizations did not consider the impacts on their threat landscapes, IT security, internal controls or audit.
Baker Tilly’s Tiffany McCoy kicked off session two of Utility University with an overview of historical and new threat landscape considerations, key risks and controls that can be used for mitigation and steps to redesign internal control processes to accommodate our “new normal.” Baker Tilly’s Dan LaHaye followed with an update on auditing remotely, including tips for before, during and after fieldwork, best practices and technology aids.
