A private research group sought help to develop and implement a framework tool for sponsored research risk management to be used for the day-to-day tracking and management of sponsored research risks.
In its capacity as university internal audit, Baker Tilly worked with the research office to create the matrix by identifying key sponsored research risks, developing a framework for ranking key risks, determining risk rankings in collaboration with the research office, and finalizing the framework tool for ongoing management.
The university’s associate vice president of research used the framework as a desktop reference tool to monitor risks on a periodic basis, check in with respective process owners to understand what they are doing to monitor the risks, and update as necessary with new risks that may arise.
