Mass transit and mobility firm navigates change with IFS 10 implementation

A lead global engineering organization, aims for safe, sustainable transport solutions. They upgrade IFS systems for unified efficiency by choosing Baker Tilly as implementor.

Client background

A lead global engineering organization and consulting group in the United Kingdom has been involved with cities and regions in order to contribute to their development by creating, improving and modernizing their transport infrastructures and systems. Their goal is to design safe and sustainable transport solutions.

The business challenge

The engineering organization was using an outdated version of IFS, IFS Applications 8, when they purchased another larger multidisciplinary engineering firm in the United Kingdom. The newly purchased engineering firm was in the process of implementing IFS 10. The engineering organization wanted a partner who would be able to share all of the elements IFS has to offer, and direct them to the solutions that would work best for their needs. They chose Baker Tilly for guidance in their IFS 10 implementation, with a goal to unify the systems across the firm and optimize business processes.

Strategy and solution

The project involved Baker Tilly defining two key business processes, building customizations and guiding the organization through the data migration from legacy applications. Despite the challenges of remote work, Baker Tilly successfully implemented IFS Solutions for Finance, Project Management, procurement, Human Capital Management (HCM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). The project kicked off in March 2021 and by August 2022, the organization was live on IFS 10. Baker Tilly provided post-go-live support, relieving the business team and allowing them to concentrate on business performance.

Following a recent acquisition, the project faced significant business process and cultural changes. Baker Tilly played a crucial role in supporting the engineering organization through these transitions with a robust change management strategy. By managing the go-live offering and continuous support, Baker Tilly ensured a smooth transition, enabling the adoption effectively and focusing on their business goals amidst these changes.
