A city in Wisconsin needed to examine the effectiveness of its IT department, determine any staffing gaps and train staff to build and implement cybersecurity frameworks, identify risks and improve internal controls. The city was specifically interested in how other similar IT departments staffed their departments.
Baker Tilly conducted interviews with the city’s department leaders and IT staff and performed a peer analysis of comparable cities. We worked with city decision-makers to develop a multi-year staffing plan and hire qualified candidates. Further, our team reviewed the city’s IT practices, policies and training programs and provided recommendations for enhancement.
The analysis provided city leadership with a 360-degree view of its IT team, which allowed department leaders to explore staff strengths and areas of improvement. The analysis helped the city take action to achieve their desired future state, including reducing their cost of service while increasing service quality.
