Dan Buttke, principal with Baker Tilly, has been with the firm since 2005. Prior to joining Baker Tilly, Dan worked for a national firm, specializing in audits of financial services companies. He dedicates his time exclusively to the firm's insurance practice.

Experience

Specializes in audit and consulting services to clients, with specific focus in the health and P&C insurance industries
Experience in GAAP consolidation and reporting of NAIC-mandated statutory filings
Assists in design, implementation and testing of internal control procedures as a result of Sarbanes-Oxley and the NAIC Model Audit Rule. Served as interim director of both financial reporting and financial planning and analysis for $1 billion health insurer
Oversees internal audit function for $500 million health insurer
Performs Quality Assessment Reviews on internal audit functions’ conformance with Institute of Internal Auditors International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
Provides consulting services and insights regarding best practices surrounding Own Risk Solvency Assessments for insurance companies
Provides assurance and advisory services to clients in accordance with the Improper Payments Elimination and Recovery Act (IPERA)
Delivers training to NAIC and other regulatory bodies
Serves as the Professional Practice Liaison between the Baker Tilly’s Professional Practice Group (i.e., quality assurance) and the firm’s insurance practice
